Ian Gausden leads International Business Development for Mastercard’s New Payments Platforms business. He is responsible for identifying and converting opportunities for real-time payments products, including Immediate Payments, Open Banking, Pay by Account and Bill Payments, working in collaboration with in-market sales teams.
Ian has a strong track record in payments technology with 30 years leadership experience, including 6 years with UK clearing banks and 18 years with one of the UK’s largest issuers Barclaycard. He has performed most IT roles from software engineer to CIO. He has been a Link/Vocalink Executive for 14 years: his roles have included CIO; COO; Managing Director and International Sales. He was responsible for leading the introduction of the UK’s Faster Payments switch in 2008, and has more than a decade’s experience of selling, delivering, implementing and operating payment solutions in every continent other than Antarctica.
Ian is a qualified banker, has a 1st Class Honours degree in Computer Studies and an MBA from Henley Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Ian lives in the UK in Leeds - outside of work he is passionate about his family, travel and music.
