Oscar Muñoz is the Vice President of Sales for LATAM at ACI Worldwide. Oscar has worked in the electronic payments industry for 30 years. He created his first independent sales organization for merchant services by the age of 20, following a short tour in the U.S. Navy.
He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration with majors in accounting and international business. His graduate work on the electronic payments acceptance industry became the basis for Puerto Rico's first nonbank ISO and member service provider, which he founded in 1997.
After more than a decade of working on the industry's transaction-acquiring side, Muñoz moved into the card-issuance side of the business and founded an open-loop prepaid-card issuing company. The company's integration of the cell phone as the enabling tool for account management and fund sharing between family and friends across the world – together with its proprietary loading network, partner banks, and network services providers outside the U.S. – positioned it for early success in the mobile payments era. He served as the Executive Vice President and SVP of International Business Development for the original creators of the mobile-POS, CHARGE Anywhere. In this role, he was responsible for global strategic growth and results, including mobile payments strategy, partnerships, and development of payment capabilities across international markets.
Most recently, Muñoz was the Global Head of Product Growth for global acquiring, currency solutions, and alternative payment methods for Fiserv following 5-years as the Senior Vice-President for payment solutions for their LACC, international division.
Muñoz is a hands-on executive with experience managing organizations – and their technologies – on both sides of the electronic payments industry. He speaks at financial technology conferences worldwide, often focusing on the growing market of mobile payments and digital banking channels technology.
