Will ACI support SSO when they change to MFA? |
Consumer protection depends on the rail and the country in which you are transacting. |
With Distance Selling Regulations in UK at least, can we use Realtime Payments on an eCommerce Site where we should wait for Physical Stock to be reserved/dispatched? |
You should be able to use realtime payments but you must contract with your customer accurately. The regulations for Card Payments do not transfer 1-to-1 to bank account payments. While I am not aware of any restrictions in the UK, for distance selling, I can tell you that |
Why would a customer use Instant Payments vs credit card when paying online? I see many benefits for merchants but very few for customers that have access to cards |
Clients use instant payments if they don't have access to credit. However with that said, many merchants are providing incentive to move to instant payments because they are. As I mentioned during the presentation, It is our responsibility as merchants and solution providers to incentives consumers to use Realtime Payments. ACI has a number to strategies that have been quite effective. We are happy to engage. |
Can a card payment be done in real time or does real time payment always imply instant transfer? |
Card payments are not real time however major card schemes are starting to do real time settlement through the real time networks. This doesn't give you the access to the payment immediately as a merchant but it does give you the end of day batch in real time. Card Payments provide the illusion of a realtime payment. The Authorization happens in realtime but if you recall the definition I provided, for it to be a Realtime Payment, the Settlement also has to be in Realitme. So to your second point, a Realtime Payment does imply instant transfer. |
What consumer protection is there for Consumers to get them off Credit Cards? |
Consumer's have protections afforded to them by their banks in the respective jurisdictions. I won't say these laws, will get consumers off credit cards but consumers have reasonable protections. As previously indicated, merchants have the responsibility to incent customers to use Realtime Payments |
